Shortcut Vs Long Route III

Considering a couple of experiences that I’ve had with taking shortcuts to either avoid traffic or get to a destination on time, I would say that normal routes which are mostly longer than shortcuts or alternative routes, end up being better and even faster sometimes. How many times on your way going through a shortcut have you said or wished you had used the normal longer route when you encounter even more traffic or realize how worse off the shortcut road has become since you last plied it? Quite a number of times for me.

God took the children of Israel through a route that must have been farther/longer out of Egypt considering the bible records the land of the philistines as the nearer/shorter route. Personally, I would expect that it would be a route free of ills and impending dangers or war seeing it was what God was shielding them from by not leading them through the shortcut. For where?!! (Pidgin English) He lead them through the wilderness! Imagine! Wilderness of the Red sea for that matter. Wilderness is synonym to desert, a place of lack and of drought, a place of tests and trials. (P.s. Please make time to read about wilderness experiences when you can. Send me a message and I can share some insightful reads I found). Would we not begin to question God’s goodness when He leds us through the wilderness? Really, these people had the option of fighting through or dying or becoming slaves(again?) in philistine or better still running back to the oppression they know in Egypt but they will at least live in Goshen which was the best part of Egypt (Please confirm in Gen 45.18; 47.11) ; After all, the devil you know (in Egypt) is better than the good/angel (in the desert) you don’t know, like they say;#Soro niyen ( what sort of talk is that?).

The point here is that you have nothing to fear as long as you are following the lead of the one who charted the course of the entire earth. God’s got His own mehn! He did not leave them to wander or grope in the dark; instead he led them all the way through a pillar of cloud by day and fire by night, how super cool is that?

(NKJV) Exodus 13.21And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night. 22 He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people.

Fellow soldiers, I hope and pray by God that you find reasons and comfort through this piece (and the last 2), in following God’s lead even though shortcuts or juicy opportunities you are prepared to take are staring you in the face and screaming “come get me” but God is leading you on a route that appears not so juicy.

(NKJV) James 1 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
